Jo (Orem) Green, 83, of Center Square, passed away at 8:46 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20th, 2020, at the Englewood Community Hospital in Englewood, Florida.
Jo entered this life on July 15th, 1937 in Aurora, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late John Lucian “Red” and Edna M. (Probst) Orem. She was raised in Aurora, Indiana where she was a 1955 graduate of Aurora High School. Jo was a 1956 graduate of the John Robert Powers School of Modeling in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Jo was united in marriage on January 19th, 1957 in Madison to Charles Green. This happy union was blessed with two daughters: Jenny and Tracy. Jo and Charlie shared over 58 years of marriage together until he passed away on October 19th, 2015.
Jo was employed as a secretary for the Soil Conservation Service in Switzerland County, Indiana for eight years. She was later employed as a dental assistant for Dr. John Rahe in Aurora, Indiana, from 1963-1971. Jo owned and operated Greens Memories from 1971-1979. She was also a former partner in the Vevay Radio Station WMGH in the late 70’s.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aurora, Indiana. She was a member of the Switzerland County Historical Society, Switzerland County First Families, Indiana Pioneers, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lawrenceburg Order of Eastern Star Chapter #427. Jo was Past Honored Queen of the Bethel of Job’s Daughters International. Jo enjoyed stripping furniture and collecting antiques.
Jo will be missed by her daughters: Jenny McClurg and her husband Kenny of Bennington, and Tracy Naegele and her husband Russ of Madison; by her grandchildren: Erin Jackson, Myra Fields, Tobie McClurg, Erica Soule and Ginger Naegele; by her several great-grandchildren; by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lucille and Cherry Phillips of Vevay, Linda Poling of Quercus Grove, Catherine McManus of Vevay, Ivan and Dollie Green of Patriot, Billie Jo Green of Vevay, and Alberta Reed of Waldron, Indiana; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lucian “Red” Orem, who died on March 13th, 1967 and Edna M. (Probst) Orem, who died on December 24th, 1988; by her husband, Charles Green, who died on October 19th, 2015; by her brother, Gerry Lucian Orem, who died on August 27th, 1932; and by her sister, Elizabeth Ann Orem, who died on July 22nd, 1933.
Friends were invited to call on the family on Wednesday, October 28th, at the Haskell & Morrison, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043. Following the time of visitation, funeral services were conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 28th. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery.
