Stella (Romans) Bennett, age 104, of Vevay, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021, at the Swiss Villa Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Vevay.
Stella entered this life on September 4th, 1917 in Switzerland County. She was one of 14 children born to Wesley Warren and Alice (Bryanton) Romans. She was raised in Switzerland County, where she attended school.
Stella was united in marriage to Stanley L. Bennett on July 20th, 1935 in Vevay. This happy union was blessed with two sons, Wayne and Gordon; and two daughters, Janet and Betty. Stella and Stanley shared over 62 years of marriage together until he passed away on October 5th, 1997.
Stella was employed as a stitcher for the U.S. Shoe Factory in Vevay, retiring in 1976 after 20 years and seven months of service.
She was a member of Switzerland Baptist Church in Vevay.
Stella enjoyed fishing, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Stella is survived by her son, Gordon Bennett and his wife Nancy of Rising Sun; by her daughter, Janet “Peachy” Kent and her husband Robert of Indianapolis, Indiana; by her grandchildren: Laura (Jim Fortner) Sullivan, Jeffrey (Erin) Bennett, Stacey (Matt) Harsh, Eddie (Carey) Bennett and Kevin (Julie) Kent; by her great-grandchildren: Jana (Bart) Houston, Allen (Stephanie) Kent, Sarah Perkins, Alissa (Scott) Keillor, Katie Jo Robinson, Ryan (Anna) Sullivan, Anna Sullivan Rachel Lowry, Evan Harsh, Max Harsh, Alinna Bennett and Scott Bennett; by her great great-grandchildren: Lynk Houston, Bailey Jo Houston, Anthony Perkins, Jacob Kent and Raiden Stephenson; by her grandson-in-law, Fritz Robinson; and by her numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley Warren and Alice (Bryanton) Romans; by her husband, Stanley L. Bennett; by her daughter, Betty Jo Lauderbaugh; by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Donna Bennett; by her grandchildren: Larry William Fair and Nila Jean Robinson; by her sisters: Edith Kelly, Bessie Scudder, Falba Brinson, Iva Courtney, Nadine Furnish, Lela Lauderbaugh, Mamie Morris, Amy Ehler and Hazel Bailey; and by her brothers: Stanley, Arthur, Isaac and Salem Romans.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 7th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 7th, at 1 p.m., by Brother Jeremiah Haynes, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery.

Ella Mae Goings
Ella Mae (Earls) Goings, age 85, of Patriot, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, September 11th, 2021, at the St. Elizabeth-Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
Ella entered this life on October 9th, 1935 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John David and Lena Marie (Meyers) Earls. Ella was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where she attended school.
Ella was employed in housekeeping for various hotels and was a waitress in Billings, Montana. She also helped pick apples in Tacoma, Washington to Billings, Montana. Ella was also a manager for an apartment building in Billings, Montana. Ella enjoyed listening to music, watching soap operas and dancing.
Ella is survived by her children: Teddy “TJ” Staggs, Annie Morrow, George Staggs, Teresa Staggs and Tina Staggs; by her 17 grandchildren; by her 20 great-grandchildren; by her sister, Eileen Miracle of Patriot; by her brother, James Earls and his wife Pam of Lebanon, Ohio; by her niece and caregiver, Teresa Earls of Patriot; and by her other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John David Earls and Lena Marie (Meyers) Earls; by her daughters: Lisa Staggs and Vickie Staggs; and by her brothers and sisters: Norman Earls, John David Earls, Albert Earls, Loretta Teal, Margaret Busch, Geneva Earls, and Patricia “Pat” Bohannon.

Virgil Copeland, Jr., age 86, of Vevay, passed away at 9:53 p.m. on Monday, September 20th, 2021, at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.
Virgil entered this life on January 2nd, 1935 in Sullivan County, Indiana. He was one of 14 children born to Virgil Loren and Goldie M. (Dean) Copeland. He was raised in Hymera, Indiana where he was a 1953 graduate of Hymera High School.
Virgil was united in marriage to Betty Jo Ward on January 12th, 1957 in Hymera, Indiana. This happy union was blessed with a son, Allen Wayne; and a daughter, Elizabeth Ann. Virgil and Betty shared over 39 years of marriage together until she passed away on June 4th, 1996.
He was later united in marriage on January 12th, 1997 in Switzerland County to Sandra Stewart Maxwell. Virgil and Sandra shared over 23 years of marriage together until she passed away on September 3rd, 2020.
Virgil was employed for General Motors Manufacturing, retiring at the age of 56. He built his dream home in Switzerland County where he could enjoy wildlife, hunt and fish. Virgil resided in Hymera, Indiana for 23 years, Anderson, Indiana for 33 years and for the past 30 years in Vevay.
He was a member of the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro, Indiana. Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing, music, singing at “Jam” Sessions, as well as, old cars and attending car shows.
Virgil will be missed by his daughter, Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Marin of La Verne, California; by his grandchildren: Michael (Jacquie) Copeland, Tye Joseph (Destiny) Copeland, Emily (Todd) Marshburn, Amanda (Aaron) Cruise, Allison (Jennifer) Marin and Joshua Marin; by his great-grandchildren: Cameron, Mikayla, Tycen, Ethen, Jocelynn, Abigail and Dylan; by his sister, Patricia Orr and her husband Robert of Rogersville, Tennessee; and by his several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Loren and Goldie M. (Dean) Copeland; by his first wife, Betty Jo (Ward) Copeland; his second wife, Sandra Stewart Maxwell Copeland; by his son, Allen Wayne Copeland; by his sisters: Marie Self, Viola Riggins, Lucille Johnson, Betty Deboard, Frances Coleman and Mary Betz and by his brothers: George, Leonard, Frank, Jerry, James and Robert Copeland.
A Celebration of Virgil’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 9th, at Hope Baptist Church, 15593 U.S. 50, Dillsboro, Indiana, 47018.
