Karsen Cook

  Karsen Elyse Cook, age 23, of Switzerland County, went to be with Jesus with her loving family by her side at 3:40 p.m. on Friday, September 4th, 2020, at the IU Health North Hospital in Carmel, Indiana.

  Karsen entered this life on December 4th, 1996 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of Timothy Wayne “Tim” Cook and Ginger Renee (Smith) Kincaid. Karsen was raised in Rising Sun, and was a 2015 graduate of Rising Sun High School.

  In the summers, Karsen was employed for Cocoa Tan in Vevay for a few years.

  On January 25th, 2017, Karsen and Richie were blessed with a daughter, Kambrie Elyse Lay and she was the joy and light of her life. On October 13th, 2017, Karsen and Richie got engaged at the Newport Aquarium with their loving daughter present.

  In June of 2018, Karsen’s mother Ginger established The Kooky Kokonut in Vevay, where Karsen was employed from June of 2018 until September of 2019.

  Karsen earned her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration from Indiana University on December 16th, 2019. Karsen was later employed as a scheduling specialist for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana from October 2019 to present.

  She was a faithful member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Bear Branch, Indiana where she was baptized in 2009.

  Karsen enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with her family and friends, four wheeling, boating, reading and going to church. Most of all, Karsen loved doing everything for her daughter, Kambrie.

  Karsen’s journey began on May 20th, 2019 when doctors found a mass on her colon. She spent the next several months sharing her journey and being such a strong inspiration for others by her faith in God. Karsen’s faith moved mountains and touched many hearts throughout her journey. Karsen never complained and was always positive with a beautiful smile on her face that would always light up a room. “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind” James 1:6.

  Karsen will be deeply missed by her daughter, Kambrie Elyse Lay of Switzerland County; by her mother and step-father: Ginger Renee (Smith) and Scotty Kincaid of Rising Sun; by her father, Timothy Wayne “Tim” Cook and his companion Jessica Ballard of Rising Sun; by her fiancé, Richie Lay and his family of Switzerland County; by her brothers: Tyler Cook of Rising Sun and Keegan Kincaid and his wife Tealsee of Patriot; by her sisters: Kelly Jo Kincaid and her companion John Craig II of Patriot and Bowen Cook of Rising Sun; and by her nephews: John Craig III, Brixx Kincaid and Adari Kincaid.

  She will also be deeply missed by her maternal-grandparents: Gardy and Priscilla “Toy” Smith of Patriot; by her paternal-grandparents: Donnie and Mona Cook of Rising Sun; by her maternal aunts and uncles: Carol and Mike Poling of Quercus Grove, Indiana, Gina and Jason Hall of Hidden Valley, Indiana and Troy Smith of Patriot; by her paternal aunt and uncle: Jana and Maurice Norvell of Rising Sun; and by her several cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles and numerous friends.

  She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents: Wilford Conway “Bill” and Jewell Ray “Judy” (Clemons) Dickerson and Hobart M. and Ada M. (Koons) Smith; and by her paternal great-grandparents: Willie Edward and Elma Marie (Ryle) Cook and Virgil Lee and Tina Helen (Hobbs) Hutton.

  Friends may call on the family from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, September 11th, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana, 47043.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, September 12th,  at 10 a.m., by Pastor Patrick Lanman at the funeral home.

  Interment will follow in the Eastview Cemetery in Patriot.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Education Fund for Kambrie Elyse Lay c/o her father, Richie Lay. Cards are available at the funeral home.

Elizabeth ‘Libby’ Pruitt

  Elizabeth Jane “Libby” Pruitt, 78, of East Enterprise, passed away on Saturday, September 5th, 2020, at Woodland Hills Care Center in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

  Libby was born in Seaford, Delaware on January 13th, 1942, the daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret  Watson. She attended high school in Sharptown, Maryland.

  Libby married Larry V. Pruitt on November 26th, 1966 at St. Paul’s Church in Hebron, Maryland. Libby and Larry were married nearly 54 years until her passing. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

  Libby retired from Wal-Mart in Aurora, Indiana. She also formerly worked at Roses Department Store in Onley, Virginia and at the Campbell Soup Company in Salisbury, Maryland.

  Libby had a great love for animals, but her family is what she cherished most.

  Libby is survived by her loving husband, Larry Pruitt, of East Enterprise; by her son, Joseph V. Pruitt and wife Michelle of East Enterprise; by his three grandchildren: Amber Pruitt, Jessica Jones and Deven Pruitt; by five great grandchildren; by his sister, Carolyn Wilkerson, of Seaford, Delaware; and by several nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brothers: Kenneth Watson and Edwin Watson; and by her sisters: Estella Hearne, June Bennett, Carlena Shufelt, Sylvia Watson, Virginia Elliott and Mary Lou Watson.

  Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the Switzerland County Animal Shelter.
