Ryan Seth Pennington, age 38, of Madison, passed from this life on Thursday, June 27th, 2019, at 10:17 a.m. at the Baptist Health-Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana with his loving family at his side.

Seth entered this life on August 11th, 1980 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the loving son of Frank Eugene Pennington, II, and Diana Horton Kerns. Seth — as he was known by family and friends — resided in Jefferson County most of his life and attended Southwestern High School. He also attended Sullivan Culinary School in Louisville, Kentucky.

Seth had served as the manager and host at Jeff Ruby’s Restaurant at Belterra in Vevay and in Louisville, Kentucky from 2001-2015. He then served as director of dietary for Healthcare Services Group in Kentucky. Seth was a people person and cared deeply for his family and friends. He would volunteer and donate generously in serving meals to the children and homeless in Louisville.

Seth had a gift of being able to speak eloquently with people, whether it be to a customer, a client, or a friend. He knew the meaning of a true friend, he could engage with anyone and touch their heart, he gave of himself in big ways, whether it be in his skills in culinary and cooking, or hosting family dinners for friends and guests, one would truly understand the gift that he gave of himself. Seth was passionate about sports especially when it came to the Chicago Cubs or the Indianapolis Colts.

He was a devoted dad and loved spending time with his daughter, Reece. He loved to have a bonfire and invite Reece’s neighborhood friends over to enjoy fellowship. Seth loved nature, gardening, hiking and seeing the gifts God had created in this world. Seth will be remembered for his passion for life, friendship, his love of people, his work ethic, and his love for his family.

Seth will be missed by his loving daughter, Reece S. Pennington of Greenville, Indiana; by his heart-broken mother, Diana Horton Kerns and her husband Mike of Markle, Indiana; by his loving sister, Kelli Pennington and her companion Byron Ray of Madison; by his niece, Vivien Ray of Madison; by his step sister, Sarah Best and her husband Brandon of Markle, Indiana; by his aunts and uncles: Karen A.
