William ‘Billy’ Kidwell
William “Billy” Eugene Kidwell, age 83, of Milton, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, December 25th, 2019, at 10:45 a.m. at his residence.
Billy entered this life on January 15th, 1936 in Switzerland County. He was the loving son of the late William Grant and Irene Ruth Scudder Kidwell. Billy was raised on Ryker’s Ridge and graduated from Central High School in 1954. In high school he had played basketball and was a member of the 1954 team that won the county tourney.
He was inducted into the United States Army and served for six years and was honorably discharged on October 31st, 1962 as a sergeant.
On June 2nd, 1957 Billy was united in marriage to Geraldine Buchanan at the Mt. Byrd Christian Church. This happy union of 62 years was blessed with a son, William Bret; and daughters: Gina Lynette and Lori Leigh.
He worked early in life as an electrician and then began his career in farming, raising tobacco, hay, cows, corn and soybeans.
He was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church and had attended Mt. Byrd Christian Church later in his life. He also held membership in Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion, Farm Bureau, and the National Farmer’s Organization. Billy loved dancing with his wife, listening to country music, going to sales and auctions, working with his livestock and working in his tobacco fields, playing basketball, and being on the farm. Billy loved his dogs, Diesel and Misty and they never strayed far from his side. He was known for his big heart, his love for the Hispanic people, and never meeting a stranger.
Billy will be missed by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Geraldine Buchanan Kidwell of Milton, Kentucky; by his loving son, William Bret Kidwell of Milton, Kentucky; by his loving daughters: Gina Lynette Kidwell Thomson and her husband Kenneth of Bedford, Kentucky and Lori Leigh Kidwell Henderson of Bedford, Kentucky; by his adoring granddaughter, Bretani Munier Wiseman and her husband Sean of Milton, Kentucky; by his adoring grandsons: Collan Henderson of Lexington, Kentucky, Hunter Henderson of Louisville, Kentucky, and Wesley Henderson of Bedford, Kentucky; by his step grandchildren: Diana Thomson and Stephen Thomson of Omaha, Nebraska; by his step great grandchildren: Emily Liska and Katarina Liska of Omaha, Nebraska; by his sister, Betty Kidwell Bray and her husband Niles of Bedford, Kentucky; by his brother, Robert Kidwell and his wife Sharon of Madison; and by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Grant Kidwell, who died on December 26th, 1969; by his mother, Irene Scudder Kidwell, who died on December 6th, 2005; and by his mother in law, Gladys Barnes Buchanan, who died on August 16th, 2012.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, December 29th, by Kenneth Thomson and Rodney Nay at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment followed in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky. Friends were invited to pay their respects to the family on Saturday, Decemeber 28th and on Sunday, December 29th prior to the beginning of the services at the funeral home. A final salute was conducted on Sunday by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion with military honors to follow at the graveside.

Joanna Joyce Girod, age 3, of Allensville, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 12:01 p.m. on Friday, December 27th, 2019 at her residence.
Joanna entered this life on September 13th, 2016 at the family home in Allensville. She was raised in Allensville, and was the loving daughter of Samuel D. and Polly L. (Bontrager) Girod.
Joanna was a member of the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro, Indiana. Joanna enjoyed playing outside, listening to nursery and Sunday School songs, going to church, sitting in her chair coloring and playing with her siblings.
Joanna will be missed by her heartbroken parents, Samuel D. and Polly L. (Bontrager) Girod of Allensville; by her siblings: Rebecca Rose Girod, Malachi August Girod, Loretta Lovina Girod, Jethro George Girod and Deborah Dawn Girod all of Allensville; by her paternal-grandparents: Daniel and Miriam Girod of Pleasant, Indiana; by her maternal-grandparents: Leroy and Katie Bontrager of Minnesota; by her paternal-great-grandparents: August Girod of Owensville, Kentucky and Salome Eicher of Reading, Michigan; by her maternal-great-grandmother, Esther Bontrager of Lagrange, Indiana; and her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal-great-grandparents: Elnora Girod and Jacob Eicher; and by her maternal-great-grandparents: Joe Bontrager and David and Polly Borntrager.
Friends were invited to call on the family on Monday, December 30th, at the Hope Baptist Church, 15593 US 50, Dillsboro, Indiana, 47018. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, December 31st, by Pastor Tom Holt, at the Hope Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Lee Cemetery, Nell Lee Road, Fairview, Indiana.
