John N. Campbell, 95, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Patriot, passed away on August 15th, 2020, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
John was born in Patriot on February 18th, 1925, John’s roots took hold early and continued throughout his long life.
A descendant of the McNutt and Hughes families, he could trace his maternal ancestry back to Ireland. His most famous relative was the 34th Governor of Indiana Paul V. McNutt, whom he met in Vevay in 1933 during McNutt’s election campaign. Likewise, he vividly remembered the 1937 Flood as it consumed Patriot and Posey Township. The family cemetery is located off Boone Robinson Road and dates back to 1830.
Most of his adult life was spent in Cincinnati where he studied art and painted under the name of John McNutt Campbell.
John enjoyed keeping himself current on Switzerland County through the Vevay newspaper, Martha Bladen and the Switzerland County Historical Society.
He is survived by his cousin, David C. Hewitt of Vevay.

John Bruns, 85, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 11th, 2020.
He was born on February 1st, 1935 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, son of the late John and Lorena (Taylor) Bruns.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Aurora Loyal Order of Moose and Disabled American Veterans. John loved to fish.
He worked as a Gas/Water Meter Reader at Aurora Utilities.
John is survived by his two sons: Paul (wife Kimberly) Bruns of Aurora, Indiana and Terry Lee (wife Bobbi Sue) Bruns of near Bear Branch; by his brother, Robert (wife Sue) Bruns of Johnson City, Tennessee; by his sister, Carol (husband Gaylord) House of Aurora, Indiana; by his five grandchildren: Cory Bruns, Tristan Bruns, Katherine Rowe, Joshua Bruns and Adam Bruns; and by his great grandchild, Mason Lee Rowe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lorena Bruns; by his loving wife, Dora Bruns; and by his sister, Louise Bruns.
Family and friends were invited to pay their respects on Thursday, August 13th, at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home in Greendale, Indiana. Funeral services followed the time of visitation at the funeral home, with Pastor Patrick Lanman officiating. Interment with full military honors followed in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
