The period to file for one of the four seats on the Switzerland County School Board that are up for election in November has opened, and filings for the positions are slow – as the Switzerland County Clerk’s office has received no new applications from candidates.
As of Wednesday morning, the clerk’s office reports that there have been three filings, all of those happening last week:
– Current school board member Katie Collier, who represents Pleasant Township, has filed for reelection.
– Current school board member Josh Deck, who represents York Township; has filed for reelection.
– Amy Jessup Combs, who is seeking the school board seat in Cotton Township, also filed last week.
– The fourth position, which represents the Town of Vevay, has so far had no applicants.
Candidates may continue to file to run for one of the four seats until noon on Friday, August 26th.
The school board election will be part of the general election on Tuesday, November 8th; with the winning candidates beginning four year terms on January 1st of 2017.
