No decision on ferry

Efforts to get a car ferry from Boone County to Rising Sun are still possible after the Boone County Planning Commission Board of Adjustments listened to pros and cons during a meeting Wednesday, June 8th in Burlington.

Full House Resorts, Rising Star Casino’s parent company, is seeking a conditional use permit to put a ferry boat landing on Lower River Road near McVille Road.

After more than two hours of hearing input, the board tabled voting on the issue until they meet again on July 13th at 6:00 p.m.

Full House Resorts CEO Dan Lee said the ferry would carry 10 vehicles at a time, taking 20 minutes to make a round trip.

Rising Sun City Council approved an amendment to the casino’s PUD (Planned Unit Development) for an access road to the ferry landing at McConnell Lane.

If approved, additional permits such as from the Army Corps of Engineers will be needed.
