New school record

set at Regional

The outstanding season of the Switzerland County High School girls track team came to a close on Tuesday night at the Bloomington North Regional, as the Lady Pacers had some outstanding individual efforts, but no one was able to advance.

The highlight of the evening was the Switzerland County 1,600-meter relay team of Leah Anders, Ally Furnish, Raylinn Kappes, and Abby Niswander, who finished seventh overall and in doing so established a new school record with a time of 4:19.32.

Sectional high jump champion Aleiah Thomas had Switzerland County’s highest finish, placing fifth overall in the event with a height of 5’1”.

Anders — also a Sectional champion — was 10th overall in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.88; Furnish was 12th in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of :50.28; the 3,200-meter relay team of Matty Anderson, Alisha Detmer, Allison Detmer, and Keirstan Oeffinger was 15th with a time of 11:41.16; and Oeffinger was 16th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:45.80.
