The Community Foundation of Switzerland County Inc., along with the assistance of Switzerland County High School, is offering a FAFSA Filing Day this Monday, February 9th.

Parents of high school seniors will have the opportunity to stop in at Switzerland County High School between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. and get free assistance in completing the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Completing a FAFSA for the first time can be an intimidating process for many families. Because of this, the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors has decided to bring in Dave Murray from the National Center for College Costs again this year to assistant families with the process.

In addition to being able to assist families with the actual online form, Dave will also be able to immediately interpret the results. Families will be able to know instantly which colleges are going to work best financially and which ones will not.

Orange folders have been provided to every senior at Switzerland County High School. Seniors were encouraged to take these folders home to share with their parents. Insider the folders, parents will find information on what they need to do to prepare for the FAFSA Filing Day.

Families that have already filed the FAFSA may bring their results to the high school on the 9th if they would like Dave to interpret the results to be sure that they are pursuing options that will, in the end, turn out to be feasible financially.

The deadline to complete a FAFSA is March 10, 2015. For more information on the FAFSA Filing Day, contact the National Center for College Costs toll free at (877) 687-7291.
