The Rising Sun Navy Bean Festival gets underway on Friday, Oct. 12th and Saturday, Oct. 13th.
Friday’s entertainment begins at 5 p.m. with the Seven Bridges Eagles Tribute Band with Chuck Brisbin and the Tuna Project on stage at 8 p.m.
The Ohio County Junior Leaders will host a baby contest at 6:30 p.m. in Heritage Hall. Registration is due by 4 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Ohio County Extension Office.
Prettiest Little Blossom (Girls) and Cutest Little Bean Sprout (Boys) will be selected in four different classes along with Pride of the Patch boy and girl with grandparents as well as Miss Baby Bean and Mr. Baby Bean.
The famous Navy Bean soup will be brewing on the city’s riverfront.
Saturday opens with the Bean Stalk 5K along the city’s riverfront at 8 a.m.
WWII veteran Gerald Bush White will be the grand marshal in the Navy Bean Parade at 11 a.m.
Entertainment includes the Stampede String Band from 11:30 to 1 p.m. followed by Black Bone Cat at 2 p.m. and The Menus at 5 p.m.
The festival closes with The Rusty Griswold Band on stage at 8 p.m.
