‘Music on Main and Cruise In’ set for Friday, May 15th

The ‘Music on Main and Cruise In’ summer series is happening again this year every third Friday. May through September – but it has moved to the riverfront.

Rising Sun Main Street is proud to announce the first band in the series: “Amos Hopkins & the Kentucky Hellbenders” from Louisville, Kentucky will perform on Friday, May 15th.

Amos Hopkins describes his band this way: “For a man to sing country music he’s got to have guts and a guitar. Rising up from the vibrant music scene of Louisville, Kentucky, comes a traditional country band that has made a mission of bringing older songs back to life. ‘Amos Hopkins & the Kentucky Hellbenders’ pay homage to the golden era of country music with tight harmonies, hair parting musicianship, and an irresistible energy that will put a hole in your boots.

“Their music (whether original or traditional) draws from the pantheon of legends including Merle, Buck, Waylon, Hank, Lefty, Cash, Tubb, and they sometimes play a couple contemporaries such as Dwight or Gram. Throw in some fine guitar work that could buck your whiskers off and you have the makings for a mighty fine night of music.”

Bring down your chairs and fancy cars, trucks and cycles to the riverfront.

The Cruise In is from 6-10 p.m.; with Amos Hopkins and Kentucky Hellbenders playing from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, May 15th.

This year there will also be special entertainment for children. ‘My Own Pony’ will be bringing down a small herd for all to enjoy. Local artist, JJ Wolfe will be creating chalk art on the street, so bring your budding artists to create their own masterpieces while you enjoy the music.
