Murray’s homer leads Shiners to 11-0 win

The Rising Sun Shiners kept control of their Ohio River Valley Conference baseball title hopes with an 11-0 win Shawe on Friday, May13th in Rising Sun.

The 9-1 league-leading Shiners got a two-hit pitching effort from Brent Turner in downing the Hilltoppers for the second time this season by 10-run rule.

Freshman Jake Bovard led off the first with a double and scored on an RBI single by senior Kurtis Armstrong. Senior Brady Murray singled and classmate Mitchell Morris drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Derrick Eldridge singled and Jakob Sandlin walked for a 4-0 lead.

Senior Tyler Camden singled to open the second on Parent Appreciation Night. Bovard reached on an error and Armstrong’s long sacrifice fly brought in his second RBI of the game.

Murray smacked a two-run homer to highlight the six-run second inning. The senior night extravaganza continued as Morris doubled. Eldridge doubled and scored on a sac fly by Turner. Sandlin walked followed by singles by Jason McClellan and Camden singled.

Morris doubled and scored the final run in the third after Eldridge (3-for-3) singled. Murray, Morris and Camden had two hits each. Bovard, Armstrong, McClellan and Turner had a hit each.

Turner picked up the win, striking out five.

Rising Sun enters the final week of the regular season ranked eighth in Class 1A.
