More than 300 take part in Lauren Hill Run/walk

The affect that Lauren Hill’s life had on the Tri-state continues as 336 runners and walkers got off to an early morning start on Saturday, September 19th to help raise funds to combat brain cancer, which claimed her life.

A total of 137 runners took part in the 5K (3.1mile ) run which started at Lawrenceburg High School and went along Bielby road back down U.S. 50 back to the school.

An additional 152 walkers completed the 5K.

A group of 47 (20 men, 27 female) took part in a 5-mile run which went up Bielby Road to S.R. 48 down to U.S. 50.

Justin Noppert of Lawrenceburg was the 5K winner in 17:70.

Luke Sullivan, 7, of Vevay, was the youngest runner, finishing in 29:31 with his father Tye coming in at 30:08.

Peyton Merica, 11, won his age group in 24:09 with Dylan Martin coming in at 27:19. Their moms Lindsey Merica and Molly Martin turned in times of 35:28.

Angie Wilson of Rising Sun had a time of 31:57 with Rising Sun baseball coach Kevin Wirsch coming in at 32:56. Jamie Works, Rising Sun school nurse, had a time of 38:35.

On the female side, Sara Smart, 14, turned in a time of 25:09 with Whitney Smart clocking in at 29:13.

Meganmarie Dennis of Vevay turned in a time of 28:50 while Sara Beth and Elizabeth Nibarger posted times of 52:03 and 1:07.45 respectively.

The top walking times by area walkers included Courtney Levell 45:21 and Carol Stapleton 45:45.

The top overall walker was veteran walker Steve Black, 66, with a time of 33:11.
