Middle School swim team wraps up year

The Switzerland County Middle School Pacer swimmers ended their season last Monday night in a double dual meet against Southwestern and South Ripley.

Despite having two swimmers out, the team won over South Ripley and only lost by 20 points to Southwestern.

Despite the loss the team won every race of the night with the exception of one.

“The team is small, but they come into meets with a positive attitude and the goal to better their times and win races,” Coach Regina Miles said. “The small but strong Pacers have had a great season and ending it on such high note made it even better!”

Team members included: Dalton Faddis, Mary Streett, Ally Furnish, Bailey Crawford, Aaliyah Ridener, Abby Cole, Adrian Armstrong, Nathan Furnish and Maddie Levell.

The middle school swimmers were not the only ones in the water, as the YMCA Sharks also finished their season this past week.

The Sharks, who are joined by the Madison H2O Otters, finished up their winter season with a third place finish at the KIYSA Championships in Floyd County last Saturday.

The team will be joining the Otters this summer as a part of their age group team. The team will be practicing at the Y and competing in meets around the area. Anyone who is interested in swimming is invited to come out and give it a try this summer.
