The Switzerland County Middle School swim team has finished its very successful season.
– Last Thursday, March 8th, the team held a home meet against Madison; and in spite of falling in the team score, individual Pacer swimmers posted outstanding efforts.
Destiny Brown took a second off of her best time in the 200-yard freestyle; Nick Braun swam his first 100 individual medley and finished in second place. Samantha Christerson took a second off of her 50-yard freestyle time; and McKenna Edwards tackled her first 50-yard butterfly in under 50-seconds.
Nathan Braun swam his best 50-yard backstroke and took second place; Kylie Carfield took second place in her heat and dropped two seconds off of her 50-yard backstroke time. Alyssa Behrens had an exceptional swim in the 50-yard breaststroke and broke the school record.
The relay of Shelby Cole, McKenna Edwards, Sam Christerson and Nick Braun took third with an impressive time of 2:30.
– On Monday the team completed its season with a meet at Southwestern.
Individually, Nathan Braun and McKenna Edwards went one-two in the 50-yard backstroke; and Kylie Carfield took nearly two seconds off of her 50-yard freestyle time.
Both freestyle relays scored, coming in first and third. Members of those relays included: Nathan Braun, Sam Christerson, Shelby Cole, Nick Braun, Kelsey Kerkoff, Destiny Brown, Alyssa Behrens and McKenna Edwards.
Shelby Cole established the 50-yard breaststroke record with a time of :49.68; while Kelsey Kerkoff competed in both relays as well as the 50-yard freestyle and backstroke. Shaelyn Lack swam the 200-yard freestyle and dropped 12 seconds off of her time. Caitlyn Staat took on the 200-yard freestyle and the 50-yard butterfly.
