The Switzerland County Middle School soccer traveled to Versailles on Wednesday, September 21st to battle the South Ripley Raiders.

After two previous disappointing losses to the Raiders, the Pacers were ready to settle the score. At halftime the score was 0-0, despite several goal attempts by Switzerland County forwards Rachel Ard and Anna Lockwood.

In the second half, South Ripley got one goal when the ball rebounded off goalkeeper Justin Green’s shoulder as he went to stop it. Justin Green stopped at least eight shots on goal by the Raiders.

The soccer team also traveled to Hanover on Monday to take on the Southwestern Rebels.

Just a few minutes before the end of the first half, the Rebels broke through the Pacers’ defense and scored.

Switzerland County rallied quickly in the second half, scoring three goals – one by Nolan Armstrong, one by Anna Lockwood, and a third rebounded by Taylor Jordan off of a perfect corner kick by Nolan Armstrong.

The Rebels managed to crack the Pacers’ defense two more times. With lots of shots on Southwestern’s goal, the Pacers kept up the pressure, but the game ended in a tie, 3-3.

The middle school soccer season is wrapping up, with home games tomorrow (Friday), against Madison Shawe; and the final game is this Monday, October 3rd at Jac-Cen-Del.
