The Switzerland County Middle School soccer team has been having an outstanding season. Here’s a look at recent action:
– The Pacers faced Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday, September 7th, in a home game. The score at half was 0-0, with Jac-Cen-Del scoring two goals early in the second half.
With six minutes left in the game, the Pacers made a comeback, with Anna Lockwood drilling a shot from the right wing. With only two minutes to go, Austin South chipped in a goal assisted by Nolan Armstrong.
Jac-Cen-Del rallied with a couple of shots saved by Pacers goalie Brenden Despres, and the game ended with a tie score of 2-2.
– Switzerland County hosted a middle school soccer tournament on Saturday, September 10th.
The Pacers met Jac-Cen-Del in the first game of the day, losing by a single goal scored by the Eagles. In that game, goalkeeper Brenden Despres had more than 11 saves.
The Pacers lost the consolation match against South Ripley by a score of 5-1. Switzerland County’s Nolan Armstrong scored late in the second half. Goalkeeper Brenden Despres had more than nine saves in that game.
Shawe Middle School took home the tournament championship.
– The Pacers traveled to Scottsburg on Monday for a match against the Warriors.
Goals were scored by Switzerland County’s Anna Lockwood, Nolan Armstrong, Nick Braun, and Rachel Ard to bring home a 4-2 win. Goalie Brenden Despres had 17 saves in the game.
The middle school soccer team has a current record of 2-2-1. Its next game is Wednesday, September 21st, at South Ripley.
