Middle School holds winter athletic awards ceremony

Switzerland County Middle School held its awards ceremony for athletes who participated in winter sports last Wednesday night, March 22nd.

Awards included:

– For 8th grade boys basketball: the All Around Award was earned by Caden Hankins; the Rebound Award was earned by Damon Courter; the Freethrow Award was earned by Aaron Scudder; and the Most Improved Award was earned by Nathaniel Geyman.

– For 7th grade boys basketball: the Most Improved Award was earned by Jeff Willoughby; the Mental Attitude Award was earned by Austin Bosaw; the Hustle Award was earned by Carter Baldwin; and the Most Outstanding Award was shared by Ben Hicks and Bryce Turner.

– For 8th grade girls basketball: the Mental Attitude Award was earned by Brook Johnson; the Most Improved Award was earned by Madison Byrd; the Defense Award was earned by Jaden Thomas; and Kiersten Oeffinger earned both the Offensive Award and the Freethrow Award.

– For 7th grade girls basketball: The Most Improved Award was earned by Hannah Coghill; the Sixth Girl Award was earned by Nora Hankins; the Defense Award was earned by Jaden Harrell; the Top Scorer Award was earned by Kyah Chase; the Freethrow Award was earned by Rochelle Bolton; and the Miss Consistent Award was earned by Jessica Duvall.

– For Swimming: the Most Improved Award in boys swimming was earned by James Allen; the Most Improved Award in girls swimming was earned by Kalen Taylor; the Pacer Pride Award was earned by Anastasia Faddis; the High Point Award was earned by Adrian Armstrong; and the Mental Attitude Award was earned by Aaliyah Ridener.

Also recognized at the ceremony, but no individual awards were presented, were the 6th grade boys and girls basketball teams; and the 7th and 8th grade cheerleading squads.

Middle School Principal Sean McGarvey also presented Academic Awards to those athletes who also excelled in the classroom.
