Middle School cross country teams sweep conference meet titles

Both the boys and girls cross country teams from Switzerland County Middle School earned the championships of the Ohio River Valley Conference on Monday night.

The boys team championship was paced by Braden Burk, who earned the individual conference championship in a time of 11:00.

He was followed to the line by teammate Tanner Gray, who finished sixth overall in a time of 12:05; while Talen Taylor was eighth overall in a time of 12:11; and Dakota Taylor was 10th overall in a time of 12:27.

All four Pacers runners earned spots on the All Conference team.

Other Pacer runners included Chase Ritch in 13th place in a time of 12:35; Mikhail Cole in 15th place in a time of 12:49; and Hunter Jordan in 28th place in a time of 13:58.

As a team, Switzerland County won with a total of 33 points; while Jac-Cen-Del was second with 37. South Ripley was third with 54 points; and Madison Shawe finished fourth with 111 points.

Rising Sun, Milan, and Southwestern did not have enough runners to record a team score.

The girls team won its championship with a team score of 35; followed by Jac-Cen-Del with 55 and Southwestern with 76. South Ripley finished fourth with 84 points; followed by Milan with 137 and Rising Sun with 140.

Madison Shawe did not have a team competing.

Individually, Paige Freeman wrapped up an outstanding season with a second place finish in a time of 13:10. Robin Furnish was fourth overall in a time of 13:28; Taryn Parr was fifth overall in a time of 13:30; and Bri Meli was ninth overall in a time of 14:10.

All four of those runners earned a spot on the All Conference team.

Other Lady Pacer runners in the conference meet included: Adeli Kinne in 15th place in a time of 14:30; Jaclyn Hart in 18th place in a time of 14:50; and Bre Ricketts in 26th place in a time of 15:43.
