Middle School cross country teams in action

The Switzerland County Middle School boys and girls cross country teams were in action last Thursday when they participated in an invitational at Hanover.

In the girls race, Madison won the event with a score of 44; followed closely by Switzerland County with a score of 47. Scottsburg was third with 62; followed by Jennings County with 79 and Austin with 129. Southwestern did not have enough runners to record a team score.

Individually for the Lady Pacers, Robin Furnish was second overall with a time of 13:29; and Bri Meli was ninth overall in a time of 14:34. Lauren Haskell was 11th in a time of 14:50; Cameron Ray was 13th in a time of 15:18; and Courtney Pedraza was 15th in a time of 15:40.

Adeli Kinne finished 21st overall in a time of 16:16; and Bre Ricketts finished 26th overall in a time of 18:04.

The boys team also finished second overall, recording a score of 60. Jennings County won the invitational with a score of 24; while Madison was third with 71; followed by Austin with 108; Scottsburg with 133; and Southwestern with 160.

Braden Burk led the Pacers with a fourth place overall finish in a time of 11:26; and Talen Taylor was eighth overall in a time of 12:27.

Dakota Taylor was 14th in a time of 12:54; Douglas Ray was 16th in a time of 13:12; Chase Ritch was 18th in 13:28; Riley Phagan was 19th in 13:29; and Ryan Sullivan was 20th in a time of 13:43.

There was also an open race for athletes who were not among their school’s top seven runners.

Switzerland County runners in the open race included overall winner Sean Oatman in a time of 13:04; Charlie Reynolds in fifth place in a time of 13:58; Michael Scott in 10th place in a time of 15:07; Kelsi Konkle in 11th place in a time of 15:22; Demetrie Liopis in 18th place in a time of 16:18; Casper Stow in 19th place a time of 16:22; Audrey Kinne in 20th place a time of 16:28; and McKayli Scudder in 23rd place in a time of 16:53.

Also: Emily Evans in 25th place in a time of 17:01; McKenna Edwards in 29th place in a time of 17:42; Melissa Furnish in 30th place in a time of 17:48; Riley Pegg in 35th place in a time of 18:18; Paige Sawyer in 36th place in a time of 18:19; and Eve Galbreath in 37th place in a time of 18:20.
