Middle School cross country teams excel at state competition


This past Saturday, October 5th, the conference champion Switzerland County Middle School cross country teams competed in the Indiana State Cross Country Meet in Indianapolis.

  Coach Kaulene Green said that both teams had to qualify during the regular season to run in this prestigious race.

  In the girls race, Claire Rogers continued her string of incredible performances with a 20th place finish out of 334 middle school girls. She finished with a time of 11:50; followed by Carlee Boggs in a time of 13:07; Halle Archer in a time of 13:11; Amber Detmer in a time of 13:22; Bri Stow in a time of 13:43; and Macy Collier in a time of 14:55.

  “Everyone ran a great race and contributed to an overall team place of 19th out of 37 teams,” Coach Green said.

  Coach Green said that her boys team ran an awesome race as well.

  Cale Collier led the way with a time of 11:46, followed by Derek Hoskins in a time of 12:14; Peyton Richards in a time of 12:45; Luke Sullivan in a time of 12:51; Kadyn Riley in a time of 14:08 and Caleb Riley in a time of 14:45.

  “Many personal bests were recorded in this race,” Coach Green said. “This was the close of our 2019 cross country season, but not the end of a great run. As the coach, I am so incredibly proud of all the student athletes that dedicate themselves to running each day. Not only are they all great athletes, they are great students as well.”
