The middle school boys cross country team from Switzerland County Middle School captured the championship of the South Dearborn Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers won the event with a team score of 54, followed by: Batesville, 70; Sunman-Dearborn, 73; Rising Sun, 83; South Dearborn, 102; Greensburg, 111; and Greendale, 210. Connersville, Milan, and South Decatur participated but did not have enough runners to post a team score.
Leading the way in the strong Switzerland County effort was Josh Hon, who finished second overall in a time of 11:09. He was followed by Corey McFarland in third place in a time of 11:19; and Tray Meyer finished sixth in a time of 11:25.
Quinn Meyer was 18th in a time of 12:17; Anthony Dennis was 25th in a time of 12:34; Nathan Smith was 29th in a time of 12:47; and Tanner Ross was 33rd in a time of 13:02.

In the girls race, the Lady Pacers placed sixth with 138 points. South Dearborn won the event with 58 points; followed by: Batesville, 65; Sunman-Dearborn, 100; Greensburg, 108; South Decatur, 133; Switzerland County; Rising Sun, 181; Greendale, 197; Connersville, 204; and Milan, 220.
For Switzerland County, Allie Mathews was the leading runner, finishing 11th overall in a time of 13:21.
Kelly Kincaid was 15th in a time of 13:36; Moriah McFarland was 34th in a time of 14:25; Bre Hinman was 38th in a time of 14:34; Alexis Carfield was 40th in a time of 14:36; Andrea Brogan was 45th in a time of 14:48; and Hayley South was 46th in a time of 14:48.

There was also a reserve race for the boys and girls teams.
For the boys: Blake Whitham finished 10th; Justin Truitt finished 14th; Jordan Bledsoe finished 17th; Zach O’Neal finished 20th; Cody Hoffman finished 22nd; and Tanner Gray finished 29th.
For the girls: Kali Carfield finished 13th and Caitlyn Fairhurst finished 25th.
