The Switzerland County Middle School boys track team earned the championship of the Vevay Media Group Invitational last Friday night.
Coach Amanda Alford’s Pacers finished with a score of 64, ahead of second place Rising Sun (55); third place Southwestern (54); and then Jac-Cen-Del (13).
Switzerland County was led by Eli Records, who was a double winner, claiming the shot put with a distance of 47’1” and the discus with a distance of 121’7”.
Also earning blue ribbons for the Pacers was Dakota Cain in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:00.40; and the 400-meter relay team in a time of :52.05.
Second place finishers included Josiah Breeck in the shot put; Craig Demaree in the 800-meter run; and Peyton Gammons in the 200-meter dash.
Finishing in third place was Gammons in the 110-meter hurdles; Austin Bosaw in the 100-meter dash; Ben Hicks in the 1,600-meter run; Nathan Furnish in the 400-meter dash; Landon Duckworth in the 800-meter run; Levi Curlin in the 200-meter dash; and Breeck in the discus.
Curlin was fourth in the long jump; Gammons was fourth in the high jump; Morgan Ray was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles; Brennen Louden was fifth in the 100-meter dash; and Duckworth was fifth in the 1,600-meter run.

The Lady Pacers also won the championship of the Vevay Media Group Invitational, posting a score of 66 points. Jac-Cen-Del was second with 60 points; followed by Rising Sun with 32 and Southwestern with 27 points.
Raylinn Kappes led the way for Switzerland County, earning four first place ribbons. She first place finish in the 100-meter dash in a time of :13.51; the 200-meter dash in a time of :29.34; and she was a part of both the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relay teams. The 400-meter squad won in a time of :58.85 and the 1,600-meter quartet won with a time of 4:51.
Alisha Detmer won high jump with a height of 4’6”; was second in long jump; third in the 800-meter run; and part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team.
Montana Roberts was second in discus and third in the shot put. Hannah Hayes was fourth in the shot put and fourth in the discus; Carly Bennett was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles, third in long jump, and was a part of the winning 400-meter relay team.
Megan Wetzel was fifth in 100-meter hurdles; fourth in the 100-meter dash; and part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team. Gracie White was second in the 800m run and part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team; Courtney Higgins was third in the 1600-meter run; Hailee Sainz was fifth in the high jump; Dakota Richards was fourth in the 400-meter dash and part of the winning 1,600-meter relay team; and Kaylee Jones was part of the winning 400-meter relay team.
