Middle School boys cross country team wins JCD Invitational

The boys cross country team from Switzerland County Middle School won the championship of the Jac-Cen-Del Invitational on Saturday.

The Pacers recorded a team score of 56 to claim the title. Jac-Cen-Del was second with 61 points; followed by Jennings County with 80; Rising Sun with 85; South Ripley with 93; South Dearborn with 131; Madison with 157; Southwestern with 217; North Decatur with 279; and Milan did not have enough runners to record a team score.

Josh Hon led the way for Switzerland County, finishing third overall with a time of 9:54. Corey McFarland was fourth overall in a time of 9:55; and Tray Meyer made it three Pacers in the top six, finishing sixth in a time of 10:04.

Quinn Meyer finished 20th for the Pacers with a time of 10:57; Anthony Dennis was 23rd in 11:01; Nathan Smith was 26th in 11:07; and Tanner Ross was 38th in a time of 11:45.

In the girls invitational, the Lady Pacers finished fifth overall with 99 points.

Madison won the event with 61 points; followed by Jac-Cen-Del with 75; South Dearborn with 77; Jennings County with 86; Switzerland County; South Ripley with 142; Rising Sun with 165; North Decatur with 187; Milan with 222; and Southwestern did not have enough runners to record a team score.

Individually, Kelly Kincaid led the Lady Pacers, finishing 14th overall in a time of 11:56. Allie Mathews was 16th in a time of 12:00; Chelsea Peters was 17th in a time of 12:01; Andrea Brogan was 23rd in a time of 12:16; and Moriah McFarland was 29th in 12:38.

Hayley South was 39th in 12:56; and Alexis Carfield was 54th in 13:53.
