Middle School boys and girls cross country teams capture ORVC championships

Two outstanding seasons were capped on Monday night with a clean sweep as both the boys and girls cross country teams from Switzerland County Middle School won the ORVC championship.

In the girls race, Whitley Schirmer finished off an outstanding season in winning the individual championship and helping her squad to the team title. She covered the course in a time of 12:18 to lead her second place finisher by nearly 40-seconds.

As a team, the Lady Pacers finished with a score of 34; finishing ahead of South Ripley (48); Jac-Cen-Del (55) and Southwestern (82).

Taylor Jordan finished sixth overall for Switzerland County in a time of 13:15; and Cameron Ray was 11th overall in a time of 14:01 – as the top three Lady Pacers earned spots on the All Conference team.

McKayli Scudder was 13th overall in 14:09; Audrey Kinne was 14th in a time of 14:19; and Courtney Pedraza was 32nd overall in a time of 16:48.

In the boys race, Bralen Harsin led the Pacers to a victory with a second place overall finish in a time of 11:56. Teammate Jordan Lay was right behind, finishing third overall in a time of 12:03.

As a team, Switzerland County finished with a score of 51, with Jac-Cen-Del finishing second with 68. Those squads were followed by Rising Sun (72); South Ripley (105); Milan (117); Southwestern (128); and Madison Shawe (146).

Pacer Casper Stow joined Bralen Harsin and Jordan Lay on the All Conference team with an 11th place finish in a time of 12:44; while Hunter Hayes was 17th in 13:09; Will Pike was 18th in 13:11; James Crabtree was 19th in 13:13; and Leon Kinne was 21st in 13:30.
