Melisa Raisor is ‘Player of the Week’

Switzerland County varsity softball player Melisa Raisor has been honored by the Ohio River Valley Conference as its “Player of the Week” for the week of May 7th-12th.

Melisa Raisor earned the honor by going 7-for-10 at the plate, collecting 10 RBI, hitting a home run and a double, and scoring three runs during the week.

She shared “Player of the Week” honors with Kendall Withered of Southwestern.

Lady Pacers Tanya Sefton and Courtney Cole were honored as “Top Performers” for the week.

Tanya Sefton was honored for going 9-for-14 at the plate including two doubles, scoring four runs, and stealing six bases.

Courtney Cole was honored for going 4-for-8 at the plate, scoring four runs, and collecting six RBI in two games.

Other players honored as “Top Performers” include: Michele McDaniel and Jaclyn Armbruster of Rising Sun; Rachel Mussel of Shawe Memorial; Lacee Alloway and Teri Hawkins of Milan; Abby Lauber and Kaylin Ploeger of Jac-Cen-Del; and Devin Brierly of Southwestern.

In boys track: Brandon Otter was honored for clearing a conference-best 6’0″ in the high jump; and Nathan Hickman was honored for running a time of :42.0 in the 300-meter hurdles.

The conference also updated its All Sports standings through the end of the track season.

In boys sports, Rising Sun leads the All Sports standings with 42 points; followed by Jac-Cen-Del with 36; Shawe Memorial with 33; South Ripley with 32; Southwestern with 30; Switzerland County with 29; and Milan with 22.

In girls standings, Southwestern leads the All Sports totals with 49; followed by South Ripley with 41; Rising Sun with 34; Jac-Cen-Del with 29; Milan with 28; Switzerland County with 26; and Shawe Memorial with 11.
