The National Center for College Costs will be hosting a College Costs Estimator Workshop at Switzerland County High School this Wednesday, February 1st at 6:30 p.m.
The College Costs Estimator program is offered to all Switzerland County families at no cost courtesy of the Community Foundation of Switzerland County, Inc. and Lilly Endowment Inc.
Families that have already completed the College Costs Estimator will receive their confidential family reports at the workshop. Families that have not completed the Estimator yet are still encouraged to attend the workshop so that they can get information on how to complete an Estimator and learn many valuable tips about financial aid.
Families participating in the College Costs Estimator program will have a chance to enter to win prizes up to three times.
Those families attending the February 1st meeting will earn an entry into the drawing and those families that complete a College Costs Estimator by January 30th will earn two entries into the drawing. If a parent/guardian is able to attend the College Costs Workshop and the high school student is unable to do so, the student will still earn an entry into the drawing.
The prizes are being offered by the Community Foundation and include a laptop computer. The drawing for the prizes will take place at the end of the College Costs Estimator Workshop.
Topics that will be discussed at the College Costs Estimator Workshop include: an outline of the financial aid process; tips on how to maximize financial aid opportunities; information on the key financial aid questions to ask colleges and universities; information on college savings strategies; and more.
A unique feature of the College Costs Estimator service is that it is not a one-time program for families. Those who participate have staff at the National Center for College Costs available to them via a toll-free phone line in the months and years ahead as they continue to have financial aid and college cost questions.
Furthermore, the computer system at the Center is structured to track all contact with client families and has the ability to run new scenarios and numbers for families quickly and easily.
