Man recovering after shooting in county

On Sunday, November 11th, the Switzerland County Sheriff’s office received a call at approximately 11 a.m. from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department of a gunshot victim being treated at The King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison.

The Jefferson County Department advised that the victim had been transported to the hospital by his parents, and had then been airlifted to University Hospital in Louisville.

The victim, Cody Jewell, 21, was listed in stable condition following surgery.

The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department then dispatched officers to the residence of Steve and Ena Jewell, 578 State Road 56 in Craig Township, where the shooting had occurred, to being the investigation into what happened.

Switzerland County Sheriff Roy Leap reports that the investigation is still ongoing by officers of his department; but the preliminary investigation does not indicate anything suspicious.
