Around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14th, officers with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office and Rising Sun Police Department came into contact with Dustin Heid on Fifth Street in Rising Sun.
Officers approached him and began speaking with him. Officers observed Heid to have signs of possible impairment. After continuing to speak with Heid, an object that Heid had removed from his pocket was thrown when he believed that officers were not watching him. Heid then removed three (3) syringes from his boot.
The object that was thrown by Heid is believed to contain methamphetamine. Other paraphernalia was located on Heid’s person. He was taken in to custody while two other individuals with him were released from the scene.
Heid is being charged with Possession of Methamphetamine a level 6 Felony, Possession of a Syringe a level 6 Felony, and Possession of Paraphernalia, a class C Misdemeanor.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that the fact that a person has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty
