The eighth grade boys basketball team from Switzerland County Middle School opened its season last Thursday night with a 51-25 loss to Madison.
Austin South led Switzerland County with nine points; while Brandon Works added five points. Eyan Peelman had four points; Kyle Whitham had three points; and Justin Chatham and Mike Gatto added two points each.
On Saturday, the Pacers hosted the Switzerland County Invitational.
In the opening round, Switzerland County fell to Southwestern by a score of 43-27.
Justin Chatham led the Pacers with 15 points in the game; while Brandon Works had nine and Austin South finished with seven. Kyle Whitham, Kenyon Bledsoe, and Eyan Peelman each had two points apiece.
In the consolation game, the Pacers picked up their first win of the year with a 32-21 victory over Madison Shawe.
Austin South led the balanced attack with eight points; while Justin Chatham and Kyle Whitham each had seven. Brandon Works had five points; Mike Gatto had four points; and Keegan Morris chipped in one point.
Rising Sun claimed the tournament championship with a 44-39 win over Southwestern.
On Tuesday night the Pacers fell in a heartbreaker to South Ripley by a score of 24-22.
Justin Chatham was the leading scorer for Switzerland County with eight points; while Austin South added four and Kaleb Harrell had three.
Kyle Whitham, Tyler Perry, and Mike Gatto each had two points, and Brandon Works chipped in one.
