The Switzerland County Middle School football team is continuing to get better as its season progresses.
That hard work nearly resulted in the school's first-ever football victory last week, when the pacers were stopped just one yard short of tying up their game against Carroll County, falling by a final score of 8-0.
"I am extremely proud of our student athletes and coaches at the middle school," head coach Ryan Jesop said. "Not only have they improved their grades in the classroom over the past two weeks, but their on-field improvement nearly brought home the first football win in Switzerland County history."
The Switzerland County defense was especially impressive throughout the evening, not allowing the Panther offense to score a touchdown. The only score of the game came on Carroll County defensive touchdown in the first quarter.
The middle school team was back in action yesterday (Wednesday) when they traveled to Madison; and return home on Thursday, September 26th for their final home game of the year versus Carroll County. That game will have a 6 p.m. start time.
