The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity soccer team is off to a fast start.
- The Lady Pacers traveled to Southwestern last Wednesday to play against the Lady Rebels. The Lady Pacers quickly scored in the third minute to go ahead of the Lady Rebels. The first goal was scored by senior Bre Ricketts. The second goal was scored in the 28th minute of action when Junior Megan Dasis was able to tuck a shot in goal off of a crossed shot.
No more goals were scored in the first half bringing the score at 2-0 in favor of the Lady Pacers.
The second half of the game was held scoreless until Bre Ricketts scored another goal. The Lady Pacer defense held strong the whole game with Samantha Christerson anchoring the defensive line.
Coach Roy Leap stated, "We were plagued with some major setbacks with three of our starting players on the sidelines due to injuries. The rest of the players stepped up and filled out the field nicely for us."
Switzerland County finished the game with a 3-0 win.
- The team traveled to Madison to play against the Madison Lady Cubs in varsity soccer action last Thursday.
The game was evenly matched for most of the first half. The Lady Pacers were having trouble finding the net in the first half. The Lady Cubs were able to break through the Pacers defense in the 23rd minute of action to score. The rest of the first half was evenly matched with neither team scoring.
The second half started out with another quick goal for the Lady Cubs in the first couple of minutes of play. Coach Leap said that the Lady Pacers could not seem to find the back of the net to catch up.
The Switzerland County defense was able to hold Madison scoreless for the rest of the game, but it ended with the Lady Cubs on top, 2-0.
