The Switzerland County Warrior summer baseball team won both the league title and the tournament championship of the Madison Parks League with a perfect 10-0 record. The Switzerland County Warrior summer league baseball team participated in the Madison Parks Upper League this summer, and at the conclusion of play, the Warriors compiled a perfect 10-0 record on their way to winning both the league and tournament titles.
In the semifinals of the tournament, the Warriors played Southwestern, winning by a score of 11-1.
Matt Roland picked up the win on the mound, going all five innings and striking out eight while allowing only two walks and two hits. Southwestern's lone run was unearned.
At the plate: Ryan Brubaker was 2-for-2 at the plate, had a stolen base and scored three runs; Matt Roland was two-for-three with two RBI, a stolen base, and a run scored; Caleb Furnish was one-for-two, recorded an RBI, scored two runs; and Zach Whitaker was one-for-three with an RBI and a stolen base.
Casper Stow was one-for-three with two RBI; Alijah Hambrick scored a run and had a stolen base; Owen Wagner scored two runs; Keegan Ray was one-for-one with a double, an RBI and a run scored; and Justice Bledsoe scored a run and had two RBI.
In the championship game, the Warriors played the Madison American Legion 15 and under team, and won by a whopping 20-3 score, including scoring 10 runs in the third inning alone.
Zach Whitaker went three innings on the mound, striking out four and allowing one walk and one earned run; and Ryan Brubaker pitched one inning, striking out two and allowing one walk.
In the offensive explosion: Justin Johnson was one-for-three with a double, knocked in four runs and scored three runs; Ryan Brubaker scored three runs; Zach Whitaker was one-for-three with a double, scoring three runs and recording two RBI; Caleb Furnish was two-for-two with three RBI and a double; and Matt Roland had two RBI and a run scored.
Casper Stow had two RBI and scored a run; Alijah Hambrick had an RBI; Owen Wagner had an RBI; Kyle Whitham had two RBI and a double; Keegan Ray scored two runs; Justice Bledsoe had a double and an RBI; and Jacob Wiley scored two runs and had an RBI.
On the season, Coach Chad Combs said that his squad had some impressive individual achievements:
- Zach Whitaker was 5-0 on the mound with a 0.25 earned run average. Offensively, he had a .605 batting average and a team-high 11 steals.
- Ryan Brubaker was 4-0 pitching with 24 strikeouts.
- Matt Roland had a win and a save on the mound.
- Caleb Furnish led the offense with a .762 batting average.
- Justin Johnson had 10 stolen bases and led the team in sacrifice bunts.
- Casper Stow led the team with 17 RBI.
- The defense committed only 12 errors all season.
