Switzerland County High school academic teams excel at area competitions

The academic teams representing Switzerland County High School have been participating in several events around the area, and continue to be outstanding representatives of the school and the community.

Here are some recent results:



Batesville



At the academic event held at Batesville High School, the Switzerland County fine arts team earned top honors with a score of 22 out of 25 for an overall first place.

All Switzerland County teams scored well and gained much-needed experience.

The science team score of 19 was one of the top scores; but the tie-breaker system kept them from earning ribbons. Math, social studies, English, and the Interdisciplinary teams earned respectable scores, with new team members gaining valuable experience.

Switzerland County Academic Super Bowl Team Members participating at Batesville included:

- English Team: Macy Barwick, Jaclyn Hart, Morgan Stamper.

- Fine Arts: Jerry Clayton, Jacyln Hart, Anthony Henderson, Anna Lockwood, Tyler Peelman.

- Social Studies: Devin Coy, Anna Lockwood, Makenzie Mathews, Cullen Scott.

- Science: Lauren Edwards, Robin Furnish, Chloe Griffin, Nicole Tice.

- Math: Lauren Edwards, Jerry Clayton, Robin Furnish, Kayla Jordan, Logan Todd.

- Interdisciplinary: Jerry Clayton, Devin Coy, Chloe Griffin, Morgan Stamper, Logan Todd.



Jac-Cen-Del



The teams also participated in an invitational competition at Jac-Cen-Del High School.

The fine arts team again had an outstanding competition, ended its round of competition in a three-way tie with Madison and Jennings County. After the tie breaker, the Switzerland County team placed third.

Also earning a third place ribbon was the social studies team.

- Social Studies: Anna Lockwood, Cullen Scott, Sean Oatman, and Devin Coy. The team is coached by Michelle White.

- Science: Robin Furnish and Nicole Tice. The team is coached by Bonnie Fancher.

- Math: Jerry Clayton, Robin Furnish, and Kayla Jordan. The team is coached by Pam Jones.

- Interdisciplinary: Robin Furnish, Jerry Clayton, Sean Oatman, and Anna Lockwood.
