Maggie Armstrong,Bre Hinman advance


The Switzerland County Lady Pacer track team competed on Tuesday night in the IHSAA Track Sectional at Franklin County High School; and Lady Pacers Maggie Armstrong and Bre Hinman both earned their way to next week’s Regional at Shelbyville.

East Central won the Sectional with 182 1/2 points; followed by Batesville with 90; Greensburg with 73; North Decatur with 55; South Ripley with 36; Jac-Cen-Del with 33 1/2; Switzerland County with 29; South Decatur with 28; Franklin County with 28; Oldenburg Academy with 19; South Dearborn with 19; Lawrenceburg with 14; Milan with 10; and Rising Sun with seven.

Track Sectionals are not divided into classes.

Maggie Armstrong qualified for the Regional by finishing third overall in the discus with a distance of 103′ 3″; and Bre Hinman earned her ticket to the Regional by finishing fourth in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 5:53.07.

Other Lady Pacers participating in the Sectional included:

Kelly Kincaid was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and the 3,200-meter relay team of Beth Abbott, Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, and Becca Sittloh was also fifth.

Allie Mathews was sixth in the 1,600-meter run; while seventh places were earned Bre Hinman in the 800-meter run; Kelly Kincaid in the 300-meter hurdles; and Maggie Armstrong in the long jump. Carlie Peacock was eighth in the shot put.

“It was a really good season for our track program,” Coach Adam Dennis said. “We made some really positive steps, and that will make us very competitive in the future.”

The Regional will be run at Shelbyville High School this Tuesday, May 24th.
