Look for the helpers

  A local story about the “Helpers” in this community:

*

  Here’s a story about three helpers. Wednesday night we had a bad wind storm, electric power was lost about 10:30 p.m.

  I moved to the basement in case the tree in front came down on my bedroom. I called REMC and reported my power outage. They said there were so many outages they didn’t know when they could come.

  I drove to the neighbor’s — Danny Harris, and he had a generator going. He said he’d move my deep freeze to his house to charge — I declined (deep freeze is 50 years old and chest type).

  He said if I needed anything to call him.

  I drove on down my road about two miles, and Robbie Miller was in his front yard starting his generator. He said if the power didn’t come back on, he’d bring his generator. Well, about 4 p.m., Robbie and Danny and Travis Harris showed up to hook up the generator!

  I had power, they even ran an extension cord so I could watch TV.

  Robbie said he’d be back on Friday at 3:30 p.m. to get the generator. The power came on about 8:11 p.m. Danny called me and said he’d be over to help me unhook everything.

  What wonderful helpers!

  Robbie had even brought me some fresh fish earlier in the week.

  Thank you, thank you, thank you!
