Linksters wrap year

with Sectional match

The Switzerland County girls varsity golf team wrapped up its season last week with a pair of matches and then competing in the Sectional on Saturday.

  • On Tuesday, September 17th, the Lady Pacers participated in a match at the Butler Falls Golf Course in Hanover. Coach Natalie Wheeler said that Switzerland County was unable to post a team score because they did not have four players participating due to injury.

Madison won the meet with a team score of 175; followed by Southwestern with 182. In addition to Switzerland County, Madison Shawe also participated.

Individually for the Lady Pacers, Josie Meyer had a round of 55; Hailey Hines posted a score of 58; and Lily Williams finished with a score of 60.

  • On Thursday, September 19th, Switzerland County participated in a three-team match on the Sectional course, Sunrise at Madison. Again, the Lady Pacers had just three golfers, so they were unable to post a team score.

Henryville finished with a score of 205 to win the match, and again Madison Shawe also participated.

Switzerland County was led by Hines with a score of 60; while Williams and Meyer each finished with a score of 66.

•On Saturday, September 21st, the Lady Pacers participated in the Sectional match at Sunrise Golf Course in Madison.

“It was a long, hot day,” Coach Wheeler said. “It was about a six hour round. I was so proud of how the girls played through a few injuries and the heat. We hate to lose our only senior, Josie Meyer, but we are also looking forward to the future of the program. This has been the most amazing group to coach. They are a very competitive group that has the determination to become better players, a coach’s dream. Thank you for all of the support this season, and a special thank you to our parents.”

Overall as a team, Switzerland County placed seventh out of nine schools with an 18-hole team score of 489.

Hines led the way with a round of 109; followed by Rori Ware with a round of 124; Williams fired a round of 127; and Meyer finished with a round of 129.
