Levi improves time, place in semi-state

Rising Sun senior Trevor Levi closed out his high school cross country season with a 91st place finish in the Shelbyville Semi-State on Saturday, Oct. 21st.

Levi qualified for the semi-state for the second straight year. Last season he placed 111th and improved by 20 places this year. His time of 16:56.7 was 16 seconds better than a week earlier on the same course.

As a senior, Levi won the Ohio River Valley Conference title and was South Dearborn Sectional championship, leading the Rising Sun boys team to the regional for the first time in several years.

The Shelbyville Semi-State was considered the toughest of the four state semi-states with perennial power Carmel taking the team title with 46 points. The top six teams advanced to the state finals. “I felt better today,” Trevor compared to his 18th place regional finish a week earlier. “I don’t feel I ran the best I could but I’m happy.”

With 178 runners in the race, Levi found himself in middle of different packs during the race. “I did pick up some spots in the last part.”
