The outdoor track season officially opened on Monday, April 2nd as Rising Sun hosted South Dearborn on a blustery cold night at John G. Roeder Track and Field.
The Knights swept the meet winning 11 of the 14 events in the boys and girls meet.
South Dearborn swept the 400, 1600 and 3200 relays plus went 1-2-3 in the 400 dash and long jump. The boys won 87-36.
Zander Gilb captured the 200 meter dash in 25.5 was third in the 100 in 12.43.
Colton McKay was runner up in the 800 (3:15) and A.J. Boes was third (3:27).
Rising Sun picked up points in the high hurdles with Daniel Daugherty placing second in 16.72. Jake Scott was third in 17.89. Scott was third in the 300 hurdles (48.26).
In field events, Daugherty was second in the high jump (5’2”). Kaden Kittle was second in the shot put (29’1”) and third in discus (81’3”).
The Lady Knights posted a 94-28 win over the Lady Shiners.
Rising Sun’s three wins came from sprinter Kinsey Price. She won the 100 in 13.16 then breezed to the 400 win in 1:07.5. Her final blue ribbon came in the 200 in 28.58.
Senior Kasey Baker was second in the 3200 in 14.30.
Riley Chipman added a second in the shoot put in 29’10 1/2.” She was third in the discus (70’11”).
Emma Davis placed third in the 1600 (7:09.75).
Kiera Mann scored a second in the high hurdles (20.6) while Skylar Durham was third (21.2).
Rising Sun returns to action tonight (Thursday) at Switzerland County. They run at Madison on Tuesday at 5:30 then compete in a four way meet at South Ripley on Thursday, along with Oldenburg Academy, Shawe and host Raiders.
