Rail on

To the Editor:

Kudos to Gregory Fockler’s “railing against the machine” letter. All our utility bills are bloated in similar ways (gas, water, communications, cable/SAT TV, to name just a few).

Government long ago discovered the beauty of enacting hidden taxes and user fees. Utility regulatory agencies rarely benefit the consumer, opting instead to promote the interest of government and the powers that appointed them to their six figure jobs (EPA, anyone?).

That I could only hope for a monthly Duke bill of $101 doesn’t lessen my ability to feel your pain. Rail on, my friend, maybe you’ll wake somebody up.

Kip Meyerhoff,

Vevay
