Editor,

The Chautauqua presented last Saturday by the Switzerland County Historical Society was so,so uplifting for me and I’m sure for many others. It was as though I entered a time machine and was alive in 1917. The wide variety of entertainment was amazing. The Riverblend Quartet ( barbershop) and the Forget-me-not Dancers performed songs and dances from the World War I era, just to name a few.

The Chautauqua happened because of the financial assistance, planning, ingenuity, dedication and hard work of the society and many other volunteers. It was a live manifestation of how a community works together for the common good. A microcosm of what our country can be when we work together and not at each other’s throats.

Thanks,thanks,thanks for a great Chautauqua.
