To the Editor:

I’m writing to thank Switzerland County residents for their generosity in helping children overseas this Christmas season. Through Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, we were able to collect over 21,000 shoeboxes in Southeast Indiana – filled with items like a doll or soccer ball, other fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items.

Although our local drop-off location in Madison is closed until November, 2016, shoebox gifts can still be packed and mailed or also purchased online throughout the year. Shoeboxes can be mailed to Operation Christmas Child, 801 Bamboo Road, Boone, North Carolina, 28607. To order one online, go to samaritanspurse.org/occ to select toys and gift items, write a note of encouragement, and “pack” them in a shoebox.

Thank you again to everyone who participated in this project and for those who participate year-after-year. These simple gifts, packed with love, communicate hope and continue to transform the lives of children worldwide.

Sincerely,

Linda Hall
