The Switzerland County Middle School eighth grade class sponsors want to express our gratitude and thanks to the members, past and present, of the Switzerland County Endowment Board. Once again, the board has agreed to give financial support to eighth grade students on their trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.
This will be the 11th year for the eighth graders to participate in this field trip. Counting those planning to go this year, the Endowment Board has sponsored a minimum of 658 students who have participated in this event over the years. This is a trip they will always remember and financial support of the Endowment Board has been a great benefit to all who have had this opportunity.
Our trip this year will be April 5th-9th. Some of the sites we take in are: Gettysburg National Battlefield Park, Mt. Vernon, a cruise on the Potomac River, plays at the Kennedy Center of the Arts or at Ford’s Theatre, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, tour of the US Capitol, Library of Congress, photo time at the White House, Arlington National Cemetery, all the memorials and monuments in D.C., and as many of the Smithsonian Museums, as there is time for. And the list goes on.
For those who have been a part of this trip in past years, you know how amazing a trip this can be. Once again, we the eighth grade class sponsors and administrators, want to thank the Endowment Board for their tremendous support of our students on this venue.
