To the Editor:
Praising and rejoicing that Concord Community Church in Switzerland County was a first time drop-off site for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this year. Along with our church, several individuals and the congregations of Olive Branch Baptist Church and Spring Branch Baptist Church donated a total of 167 shoeboxes to this project of Samaritan’s Purse.
This is part of the worldwide ministry of Franklin Graham to help children affected by war, disease, disaster, poverty, and famine in some of the hardest-to-reach countries around the world. Each shoe box is packed with a Gospel News booklet in their language and school supplies, hygiene items, and fun toys. Operation Christmas Child is an international Christian relief and evangelism organization.
The Southeast Indiana Operation Christmas Child area is made up of the following counties: Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland. In November, these nine counties collected a total of 11,421 boxes, which was an increase of 1,900 from last year. Praise the Lord!
National collection week is always during the third week of November. This year, it will be November 19th-26th, 2018. Please prayerfully consider packing a shoebox next year and bringing it to Concord Community Church one day that week. Whether you do it as an individual, an organization, or a church, please help to share God’s love with children around the world.
Contact me for the cardboard shoeboxes, the packing labels, or other information you may wasn’t about Operation Christmas Child. These gift boxes are distributed worldwide all year. So, when a national disaster or crisis affects children somewhere in the world this year, you can donate a shoebox to a child and their family that are needing immediate help to survive. Go to the Samaritan’s Purse website: www.samaritanspurse.org/occ and donate or build a shoebox online.
Thanks again to those who participated in Operation Child in 2017. New Years blessings to all our Switzerland County friends and family.
