Lane Armstrong is the Democratic candidate for Switzerland Commissioner for District 2. He resides on Boone Robinson Road near Patriot; and he and his wife, Sheree, have been married for 33 years and have two children: Shonda and Jeremy. They also have three grandchildren: Chelsea, Kristen, and Lauren. He is the son of Jack and Joan Armstrong; and he is a lifelong resident of Switzerland County, as are his parents.
He is a graduate of Switzerland County High School, and has worked on the farm most of his life, along with being self-employed as an owner-operator.
Why are you running for office?
I decided to run for the Commissioners Office to continue working towards making further positive changes that meet the needs of all residents of Switzerland County and its government.
What are your qualifications?
I have been involved in several organizations over the past years and have seen and been a part of the decisions that have made positive changes for the community.
What would be your priorities?
My priorities would include responsible spending to provide appropriate resources to maintain our County entities, and improve our infrastructures. Additionally, I want to assure that the taxpayers’ dollars will be utilized appropriately to the best of my abilities.
What makes you the better candidate?
Being asked to serve on the newly formed School Endowment Board and elected as President for the two year term. Sitting on the Purdue Extension Board for four years, and 12 years on the Switzerland County 4-H Fair Board. I have gained valuable knowledge from working with the people of the community and feel I can bring positive changes as your Commissioner of Switzerland County.
