What a turnaround for the Rising Sun Lady Shiners.

After a loss at South Ripley, Coach Noel Bostic’s girls bounced back to put together a nearly perfect defensive effort against Oldenburg Academy.

Rising Sun led 20 to 14 after one quarter then allowed only eight points the rest of the game (two, three and three points respectively).

Meanwhile the Shiner offense continued to mount its attack resulting in a 67 to 22 win (the 45 point margin the largest since a 70-14 win over Seton Catholic in 2011-2012).

Sophomore Lucy Carrigan outscored the Twisters with 26 points including 10 in the opening quarter. She added seven rebounds and seven steals.

Senior Kelsey Romans had her best offensive outing of the season with 12 points on four 3-pointers to go with two rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Classmate Tiffany Vinup dominated the second half with 12 points and seven rebounds with backup Danyka Groover coming in to score eight and grabbing six rebounds.

Carson Blackwell added five points plus a team high four assists. Sierra Webb had four steals and two points with Sydney Bostic closing out the scoring with a pair of free throws.

Rising Sun shot 50 percent from the field with 33 percent from 3-point range and 10-for-19 from the line. They had 38 rebounds 11 assists, 13 steals and a season low six turnovers.

Meanwhile Oldenburg had 20 turnovers and made just eight field goals in 40 attempts.

Rising Sun won the reserve game 34 to 20.

Freshman Sydney Bostic led the way with 11 points. Keira Oser added eight, Danyka Groover eight, Lucy Carrigan four, and Jayden McAlister three.
