Lady Shiners get first win under Friend

The Rising Sun Lady Shiners gave coach Abby Friend her first win of the season with a resounding 53 to 22 win over Seton Catholic on Saturday, Nov. 26th in Rising Sun.

Sporting new home uniforms, junior Lucy Carrigan scored a career best 28 points including 4-for-5 from 3-point range and 4-for-5 at the free throw line. She had a double-double with 10 steals. She added five rebounds and an assist also.

Carrigan entered the week leading the Ohio River Valley Conference with 21 points per game.

Rising Sun jumped out to a 10 to 0 lead and led 16-6 after one quarter. They stretched the lead to 27-10 at the half and scored an 18-8 third quarter advantage to lead 45-18 headed into the final eight minutes.

Junior Chelsea Brown returned from injury to score nine points, grab five rebounds and dish out a team high four assists.

Keira Oser added eight points and five rebounds. Sydney Bostic scored four points and led the team with eight rebounds.

Freshman Sydney Pitts added three points, Erica Schraeder two and Emma Levi one. Schraeder had five boards with Kinsey Price adding three. Saige Groover had four rebounds and Aimee Howlett two.

Rising Sun was 20-for-60 from the field including 5-for-14 from 3-point range.

The Lady Shiners had a season low 12 turnovers as their record improved to 1-4.

Rising Sun was to play South Dearborn Tuesday before hosting South Ripley Friday. They visit Oldenburg on Tuesday and host Trinity Lutheran on Thursday, Dec. 8th.
