Lady Pacers win tri-meet at JCD

  The Switzerland County Middle School girls track team faced its toughest competition of the season and defeated Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday night, April 18th.

  The Switzerland County Middle School girls track team faced its toughest competition of the season and defeated Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday night, April 18th.

  “The team worked together to make this win in all areas; sprinters, long distance, jumping and throwing,” Coach Michelle Detmer said. “If anyone of these areas would have been off we couldn’t have done it. I can’t say there was one area that did better. They all did amazing!”

  The Lady Pacers finished with 57 points; while Jac-Cen-Del had 50 points and St. Louis finished with 18 points.

  Blue ribbons were earned by:

  — The 400-meter relay team of Raylinn Kappes, Kaylee Jones, Carly Bennett, and Megan Wetzel won in a time of :58.2.

  — Alisha Detmer won high jump with a height of 4’6”.

  — Kappes won the 200-meter dash in a time of :29.9.

  — Gracie White won the 1,600-meter run in a time of 6:00.

  Second place points were earned by the 1,600-meter relay team of Kappes, Detmer, Wetzel, and Dakota Richards; Montana Roberts earned second place in the shot put and the discus; White was second in the 800-meter run; Detmer was second in long jump; and Wetzel was second in the 100-meter dash.

  Hannah Hayes was third in the shot put and discus; Bennett was third in the hurdles, the 200-meter dash, and the long jump; Kappes was third in the 100-meter dash; Hailee Sainze was third in the high jump; Dakota Richards was third in the 400-meter dash; and Courtney Higgins was third in the 800-meter run.

  Wetzel was fourth in the hurdles; Richards was fourth in long jump; and Detmer was fourth in the 400-meter dash.
