Lady Pacers win three-way meet; records fall at invitational

The Switzerland County Lady Pacer varsity girls track team had a busy week, competing in the South Dearborn Invitational last Thursday night; and then returning to South Dearborn on Tuesday night to compete in a three-way meet.

Last Thursday, the Lady Pacers fifth in the eight-team invitational, amassing 49 points. Batesville won the invitational with 156 points; followed by South Ripley with 86; Franklin County with 72; and South Dearborn with 57.

Oldenburg Academy was behind Switzerland County with 38 points; followed by Lawrenceburg with 21 and Rising Sun with 17.

Individually, the night was highlighted by the 3,200-meter relay team of Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, Becca Sittloh, and Beth Abbott, who again broke the school record with a time of 11:13.22. The time was good enough to net the Lady Pacers fourth place in the event.

Maggie Armstrong was the lone first place finisher for the Lady Pacers, winning the discus competition with a distance of 96’4″.

Bre Hinman was second in the 800-meter run and third in the 1,600-meter run with a personal record time; and Kelly Kincaid was third in the 100-meter hurdles.

Fourth place finishers were Allie Mathews in the 800-meter run with a personal record time; and Carlie Peacock in the shot put. Earning fifth place points was Beth Abbott in the 3,200-meter run with a personal record time; the 1,600-meter relay team of Becca Sittloh, Andrea Brogan, Bre Hinman, and Allie Mathews; and Katie Hall in the discus. Kim Fox finished sixth in the shot put with a personal record distance.

On Tuesday night Switzerland County returned to South Dearborn, and won a three-way meet with South Dearborn and Lawrenceburg. The Lady Pacers finished with 71 points; while South Dearborn had 64 and Lawrenceburg had 24.

Earning first place blue ribbons for the Lady Pacers was Allie Mathews in the 1,600-meter run with a personal best time of 6:05; Beth Abbott in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 14:41.58; Kelly Kincaid in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of :117.14, and the 300-meter hurdles in a time of :52.56; Maggie Armstrong in the long jump with a personal best distance of 15′, and in the discus with a distance of 97′ 7 1/2″; Carlie Peacock in the shot put with a distance of 29′ 2″; and the 1,600-meter relay team of Kelly Kincaid, Bre Hinman, Allie Mathews, and Alexis Carfield with a team-best time of 4:42.

Second place points were earned by Andrea Brogan in the 200-meter dash with a personal best time; Bre Hinman in the 800-meter run with a personal best time; Amber Meli in the 1,600-meter run; Katie Rayls in the shot put; the 400-meter relay team of Andrea Brogan, Katie Rayls, Dina Sun, Becca Sittloh; and the 3,200-meter relay team of Bre Hinman, Beth Abbott, Allie Mathews, and Becca Sittloh.

Finishing third was Maggie Armstrong in the 200-meter dash with a personal best and the 400-meter run with a personal best; Allie Mathews in the 800-meter run; Kelly Kincaid in the long jump with a personal best; Kim Fox in the shot put; and Katie Hall in the discus. Fourth places were earned by Alexis Carfield in the 400-meter run with a personal best; and Andrea Brogan in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best.

The team returns to the track tonight (Thursday) when they host the Switzerland County Invitational beginning at 5 p.m.
